No MIDI Q: Redhat 9 won't play MIDI? MIDI files play fine on a club PC in Redhat 8 using Kmidi with Timidity installed; but these programs don't seem to work in Redhat 9, and I can't play MIDI files in Redhat 9. Has anyone solved this problem? A: Redhat 9 installs Kmidi with KDE desktop and it plays my midi files. A: Yes, in Red Hat 9, Kmidi is included in KDE multimedia; and you have to make sure you install Timidity++ along with it, otherwise it won't work. A: Mine won't play either, gives error: "Couldn't open /dev/sequencer. Probably there is another program using it." hummm... A: I really like and highly recommend a program call timidity, which uses the old GUS samples for a superb software-based wavetable synthesis midi playback. http://www.onicos.com/staff/iz/timidity/index.html has the source code for it.. |
