April 2004 Meeting Michael Barnes is the IT director for the World Radio Network, which is a ministry of HCJB World Radio, one of the largest non-governmental short-wave broadcasters in the world. WRN owns 14 FM radio stations and operates a Spanish Christian satellite network. Michael has been missionary with WRN for over six years. Michael takes care of 100 workstations, a dozen or so separate networks and over a dozen servers. The networks utilize Novell Net Ware and Linux on their servers. The servers do streaming audio, video conferencing, andVoIP. Michael has been an electronics technician for over 30 years, and has worked on various systems, including telephones, dispatch consoles,two-way, microwave, surveillance systems, air traffic control systems, PA systems, and many more. The last few years Michael has been primarily in broadcasting, focusing on computer systems, both radio automation and administrative.
